Lucy dropped us back of the Norfolk Arms, Ringinglow...
we set off downhill & joined the Porter Brook
'Twere a lovely day for a walk...
& a lovely walk it was.

The Shepherd Wheel, an edge-grinding working museum,
is maintained in a place where there has been a water wheel driving a mill,
of one sort or another, since the 1580s.
The last iteration, a cutlery-sharpening works, dates to 1780,
remaining in the hands of the same family until closure in the 1930s.
(The bloke at the museum was very informative!)
Despite the current bucolic overlay, this is an industrial landscape:
the Brook drops 450+ feet in it's last 4 miles or so...
& the 21 dams along this stretch of the river served 19 mills!
The trail takes you into Endcliffe Park,
& we end on a steep trudge up another Sheffield hill!
