Saturday opened beautifully...
a slow start, the a long half-day walking
First we took local footpaths, rather than the road, to Cardington...
& then, tucked behind the last houses in the village, the path to Netchley quarry...
to wander SE across the Wilderness at the base of Caradoc.
Generally hot-hot-hot... but a couple of sections were tree-lined & lovely!
There was half of the magnificent Hough & Sons pork pie to share!
A minimal road walk back to the evening village,
to be met by the Norman Church of St James simply bathed in lovely light.
Again, the Royal Oak was really easy to find... with more beers to savour.
Great pub, good grub: steak & kidney PUDDING , Lord preserve us!
Back to the campsite via the road (so-o-o much quicker!)
Irish nightcap, then slept so very, very well...
