Walking: Foulden, St Abbs Head & village

Made our way to the Borders, & the wee-but-striking village of Foulden, a few miles north of Berwick... a single linear development, including the Kirk & ancient tithe barn, it is stunning in it's simplicity & placement (looking south across the Northumberland Plain to the Cheviots)... a dozen listed, mainly domestic, buildings!
Shepherd's Rest is a stunning eco-campsite: birdsong, dark skies, & peace!
Took a while to get the feel of the local byways, so exploring'em was limited...
but there seems much wanderblick & fun to be had!
A few miles along back-country roads, St Abbs Head!
We walked around a lot... because it was absolutely beautiful!
St Abbs village weren't so much - & all the better for it!
A wee working port, you can scuba, snorkel, & do other holiday-sea-shit,
but folk live here, & do everyday things...

Photography: Manchester & Magic

Got out on the trams & did some stuff for a change!
Life in The North 70s-80s
(British Culture Archive exhibition, Bury Art Museum)
Some other good stuff...
Helmut Schober: Time with no Beginning 2
Jill Furmanovsky exhibition (Manchester Central Library)
Jumped off tram at Stretford to walk along the Bridgewater...
& lovely it was too!  Improved with a pint to two...
Then we moved...
Ta!
A long wander around the top of Gateshead was instructive... lots of green space: Windy Nook & Whitehills nature parks; St Albans churchyard, a community 'garden' project for the past 8 years, encouraging nature, beauty, & shared space.

Then it was on to the meat of the weekend...
loadsa rugby league!
... & surprisingly few beers!
