Photography: Went to Brum... & why!

Walking: Chapel-le-Dale, Yorkshire Dales

Camped at Philpin Farm, under Whernside - ain't never been up no Whernside!
Another fantastic campsite, with the added 'attraction' of 50 junior soldiers!
Behind us, Ingleborough... been up Ingleborough...
ain't going up no Ingleborough!
Went for a wee stroll, ostensibly to the Ribblehead Viaduct.
We ended up climbing up & along Whernside, with our apples & bockles o'water!
Turning left at Bruntscar, we started up, & the perpendicular cutting of contours
... like the diculars we are! There was an awful lot of up...
736m the trig point on Whernside... vues magnifiques du haut!
It was turning into a long day...
Dentdale running into Ribblesdale; Widdale in the distance
Hidey sheep.
Hidey lady.
A great walk. A bloody taxing walk! We passed a fair few Three Peaks Challenge groups - works parties, charity groups etc - loadsa medical drop-outs due to heat!
There was the Station Inn, of course, & then a good stretch back home.
40 years since I was here... won't be owt like that 'til I'm back.
Bugger Pen y Ghent by the way!

Oi! Mart & Josie: Sedgefield also has the best pies!

... village looks lovely, & we finally had a wee wander!
St Edmund's is stunning & remarkably placed.
Would look forward to visiting again...
... not simply for Number 4's magnificent steak & chicken/bacon/leek pies;
their cakes are also wonderful & weird!
Now for the Yorkshire Dales...

River Coquet: I was asked to post this...

Walking: Warkworth & Amble

Walkmill Campsite, above the River Coquet, an rather lovely eco-site: beautifully laid out (good-sized pitches scalloped into meadow), great facilities, 25 minute walk from Warkworth, with very well-disposed owners... I mean, even an honesty shop!
A bunch of old & medieval shit still inhabit the village - which would definitely benefit from a really good snoop about!
Warkworth Castle is unmissable: looming over the A1068, the main road through the village, & opposite the rather fine Castle Brew House
Books by the Sea a series of small, free libraries (take one, leave on if you can) along the Northumberland Coast
The walk to Amble is a bit crap (A1068 can be a busy bugger!)
However, the Coquet is a pretty & interesting river: birds & folk, even seals!
Amble's weird... it just is.  A rundown, still used, fish landing & processing dock, which hosts mucho touristos to grub & booze.  I ain't saying this is a bad thing... & there are great pies from the Farm Bakery, & the magnificent Border Reiver (a very tasty mix of scotch pie, haggis, & neeps) made by The Amble Butcher.
The only puffin we saw was in a kiddies playpark.
There is some lovely countryside across the area...
& I look forward to seeing more of it!
