Walking: Rosedale west mineral railway

A hot afternoon, we set off at 4.00pm: west across the valley floor to Thorgill; north along a metalled-but-knackered track to Dalehead; uphill scramble to the western arm of the ironstone railway that horseshoes around the upper slopes of the Dale.
Simply stunning skies & views & colours...
Had us scran up here... grand caff, eh?
Industrial archaeology abounds, so you never forget you're in a man-made environment... but above, on the tops... the forbidding majesty of
the North Yorkshire Moors!
30% gradient we were walking down when I took this one -
apparently, MG still roadtest on the climb -
pub became absolutely necessary (a few yards from t'bottom of that bloody slope!)
Fantastic, taxing walk & a lovely evening sky to finish a rather lovely day...
